Longer nights, chilly weather and the start of the Christmas shopping rush only means one thing, November is upon us. It’s the time of the year we relax our gym schedule and begin to fully embrace our winder bods. So what better way to do this than indulge in some hearty British grub? For all you foodies out there, Soho is brimming with pubs, restaurants and cafes to enjoy some stodgy winter scran. Here are just a few of our favourites..

The Ivy Soho Brasserie – Broadwick Street

If you’re seeking ample of choice then you’ve certainly found yourself in the right place at The Ivy Soho Brasserie. The ultra-sophisticated, yet relaxed dining experience boasts a whopping nine menus and feeds foodies from dusk until dawn, seven days a week. So what can you expect? Well, the elegant establishment is of Parisian-style and serves up various British cuisines between 8am to 10pm. Indulge in hearty classics, including Shepherd’s Pie, Roast Salmon Fillet and Fish and Chips. There’s also Lobster Linguini, Yellowfin Tuna and Iberico Pork for those with more adventurous taste buds. Vegans and veggies will also be impressed, as The Ivy chefs have gone above and beyond to design a menu which suits their requirements. Wild Mushroom Risotto, Sweet Potato Keralon Curry and Haloumi Sandwiches just some of the dishes available. Due to its extensive opening hours and good value for money (main dishes start at just £12.95), the plush restaurant is super popular with London locals, shoppers and tourists. There’s even a resident DJ who takes to the decks from 7pm on Friday and Saturday evenings and throughout brunch on the weekends. The Soho Ivy Brasserie makes a special effort to reinvent the menu every month and after seeing what’s in store for November we strongly recommend a visit.

The Queens Head – Denman Street

If you’re looking for an utterly British dining experience from start to finish then the Queen’s Head has your name written all over it. The Victorian style pub has roots dating back to 1736 and provides a cosy and intimate setting for the cooler months, just a stone throw away from the bustles of Piccadilly Circus. Home-made food is at the heart of the menu at the Queen’s Head, with diners having the choice of Fisherman’s cod, Rib-Eye steak and a range of delicious pies, which are prepared fresh in the kitchens. If you find yourself around Central London on a Sunday and fancy a spot of lunch then there’s also a mouth-watering beef and lamb roast on offer, complete with all the trimmings. And that’s not all, as well as a range of tasty dishes the independent London pub also has many draft and cask ales available, perfect for washing down your hearty winter meal.

Old Compton Brasserie – Old Compton Street

Stylish, sophisticated and sexy are just are just a few words to describe the Old Compton Brasserie. The artistic haven is known for changing their menus seasonally, giving foodies the opportunity to try new additions on a regular basis. For lunch, grub-lovers can enjoy Pan-Fried Salmon, Sea Food Linguini and Marinated Skewers, complete with a glass of wine or beer for a bargain price of £12. The dinner menu notches up the flavour, with Steak Frites, Sauteed Sea Bass and Chicken Liver Parfait taking centre stage of the evening selection.
